Cheeky Belgian “Chocolat” Saves Troops

An army dog called Chocolat saved the lives of a search team by sniffing out a Taliban bomb-making factory that had been booby-trapped.
The “Belgian” Shepherd (described as “Cheeky” by his Handler) found home-made explosives, old claymore mines and enough equipment to make over 10 roadside bombs, known as Improvised Explosive devices.
Chocolat uncovered the cache inside a building as he and his 20 year old handler “Steve” – were searching a bazaar in Nad-e-Ali, Helmand Province in Afghanistan.
Chocolat’s success at finding IEDs in the initial few weeks of Operation Moshtarak was impressive and the troops really value him and his search capability. “He is really helping to save the lives of some key players in the dangerous world of Counter IED.”
