Daniel Holkham – 3 Rifles Battlegroup

It is with deep regret that the Ministry of Defence have confirmed the death of Rifleman Daniel Holkham, from 3rd Battalion The Rifles, serving with 3 RIFLES Battle Group, who was killed in Afghanistan on Saturday 27 March 2010.
The 19 year old was carrying out duties with his platoon just outside the Sangin Bazaar when he was killed by an explosion detonated by a suicide bomber.

One of my Son’s had the privilege of training alongside Danny (snake-eyes) at the Army Foundation College in Harrogate during 2007, and although these deaths of our forces personnel are almost a daily occurence – this one in particular really does “hit-home”..!!
Therefore, on behalf of my family.. I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the family, girlfriend, friends and serving colleagues of Daniel Holkham. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult period.
